About JPG to SVG

JPGs are the hardest images to vectorise well, because JPEG compression adds faint blotches around every edge. Traced naively, those turn into hundreds of tiny shapes.

This converter groups similar colours first and absorbs the soft bands along edges, so a JPG logo comes out with the clean shapes you'd expect, not the compression noise.

Tips for the best result

Use Logo for logos, even from a JPG

It snaps colours together and keeps corners crisp, which cancels out most JPEG noise.

Set the number of colours

If a two-colour logo comes out with extra shades, set Colours to 2. Every leftover shade is forced into the nearest real colour.

White background? Remove it

JPGs can't be transparent, so most have a white box. Remove background drops it from the SVG.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Converting and downloading is free, with no signup and no watermark. Everything runs in your browser, so there's no queue and no daily limit.

Why does my JPG trace with extra colours?

JPEG compression creates in-between shades along edges. Set the number of colours to match your design and they disappear.

Is JPEG the same as JPG?

Yes, .jpg and .jpeg are the same format. Both work here.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Your browser does the conversion on your own device, so the file never reaches our server. That also makes it fast: there's no upload or download wait.

Can I make a JPG into a cut file?

Yes. Convert it to SVG for Cricut and Silhouette, or download DXF for laser cutters.
