About PNG to PES

Embroidery machines need stitch files, not pictures. This traces your PNG into flat shapes, then fills each shape with stitches: fill for larger areas, satin for narrow ones, with underlay so it holds.

It's automatic digitising, so it suits simple artwork: logos with a few flat colours and bold lettering. Detailed illustrations, gradients and small text need a human digitiser.

Tips for the best result

Keep it simple

Two to five flat colours, no gradients, no tiny details. Set Colours to match.

Set the size first

Choose the design size in millimetres before downloading. Resizing stitch files later makes them too dense or too loose.

Check it before stitching

Open the file in your machine's software to check size, stitch count and hoop fit, then test-stitch on scrap fabric.

Always test-stitch

Stitch on scrap fabric with the same stabiliser before using a garment.

Brother and Baby Lock. Download DST for commercial machines (Tajima and most multi-needle machines) or JEF for Janome.
